Alan K. & Isabelle DerKazarian Foundation 2026 High School and College Scholarship

Overview

One of the pillars of our foundation is supporting causes relating to the education of those in our community. Because of this, we are happy to announce the continuation of our annual scholarship program. We would like to dedicate this scholarship program to Dr. Alan DerKazarian, professor of periodontics at Boston University.

Scholarship Specifics
 
Our foundation will award two current high school seniors, graduating in Spring 2027, and two current undergraduates graduating after spring 2027 with a scholarship amounting to $15,000

In order to be eligible for this opportunity, you must fulfill the following requirements:
 

1. Meet one of the following eligibility categories:

   • Be currently enrolled as a senior at a Massachusetts high school and graduating during the 2026–2027 academic year; OR

   • Be a current undergraduate student attending a Massachusetts college or university; OR

   • Be a current undergraduate student who maintained permanent residency in Massachusetts prior to attending college outside of Massachusetts.

2. Have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher in your coursework.

3. Answer all required financial aid questions and demonstrate financial need to the Scholarship Committee.

4. If selected for an award, provide proof of enrollment at an accredited four-year college or university.

5. Submit a complete application, including all required questions, essays, and supporting materials, by the stated application deadline.

6. Be enrolled in or planning to enroll in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university.

Applicants will be asked to provide the following:

1. A full copy of their transcript (if selected for the second round)

2. A resume

3. A statement of financial need

4. A response to the following prompt: In 500 words or less, reflect on a passion that is important to you, what motivates you to succeed, and why you have chosen to pursue a college education. This question is intentionally open-ended, so focus on sharing your personal journey, goals, and the reasons behind your chosen path.

After all applications are carefully reviewed, a pool of finalists will be selected to conduct a short interview regarding their application. The winners will be selected after all interviews are complete and the committee has deliberated.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions
 
By submitting an application for the Alan K. & Isabelle DerKazarian Foundation Scholarship Program, applicants acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

Application Requirements

Applicants are responsible for submitting a complete application and all required materials by the stated deadline. Late or incomplete applications may not be considered. Applicants may submit only one application during each scholarship cycle.
 
Accuracy of Information

All information provided in the application must be true, complete, and accurate to the best of the applicant's knowledge. Providing false, misleading, or materially incomplete information may result in disqualification or withdrawal of an award.
 
Verification of Information

The Foundation reserves the right to request additional documentation to verify information provided in an application, including, but not limited to, academic standing, GPA, Massachusetts residency, financial information, and enrollment status. Failure to provide requested documentation may result in disqualification or withdrawal of an award.
 
Continued Eligibility

Applicants must continue to meet the eligibility requirements of the scholarship through the date of award disbursement. A change in enrollment status or other circumstances affecting eligibility must be reported to the Foundation.
 
Enrollment Verification

Scholarship recipients must provide satisfactory proof of enrollment at an accredited four-year college or university before scholarship funds are disbursed. Additional documentation may be required at the discretion of the Foundation.
 
Scholarship Selection

Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview, finalist status, or scholarship award. All scholarship decisions are made by the Foundation based on the established eligibility requirements, application materials, and selection process. All award decisions are final.

Award Disbursement

Scholarship funds will be disbursed in accordance with the Foundation's established award procedures. Recipients must complete all required verification and documentation before funds will be released.

Conflicts of Interest

Employees, officers, individuals directly involved in the scholarship selection process, and their immediate family members are not eligible to receive an award.

Changes or Withdrawal of an Award

The Foundation reserves the right to withhold or withdraw a scholarship award if a recipient no longer meets the eligibility requirements, fails to provide required documentation, or is found to have provided false or materially misleading information in their application.
